The Esplanade: A Kid-Friendly National Harbor Community

Finding housing when you have a family is an adventure. Not only do you want a comfortable home for yourself, but one that your kids will like too. Lucky for National Harbor, Maryland residents, there’s the Esplanade. This community offers plenty of amenities and features that both parents and children can enjoy. For starters, the one- and two-bedroom homes—with high ceilings and oversized windows—are the perfect size for a family. And it doesn’t stop there. Youngsters will enjoy the two-level courtyard with a swimming pool—perfect for when they’re just learning how to swim. They’ll also love the outdoor spaces with fire pits, sports and lawn games so they can practice for their little league games.

And the National Harbor is also full of plenty of kid-friendly activities and shops.

Kid-Friendly National Harbor Attractions

The National Children’s Museum is just steps from the Esplanade and aims to inspire children to care about and improve the world. Nearby Bobby McKey’s hosts a monthly family friendly show with great entertainment if you’d prefer a livelier option. When it comes time to shop, children will enjoy the fun Build-A-Bear Workshop.

And let’s not forget about the waterfront. It’s close to the Potomac Vista Recreation Area and kids will enjoy biking or hiking on these gorgeous trails. To get views up high, kids can take a spin on the Carousel. After seeing the National Harbor from high up, they can play in the outdoor picnic area or playground too. Be sure to check out the Awakening Sculpture too. It makes for a great photo opportunity and kids will love crawling over this massive statue that’s “stuck” in the sand.

For Esplanade residents, nearby Prince George’s County Public School system offers top-notch education for elementary, middle and high school students.

If you’re a family searching for a new home, consider living at the Esplanade, in the National Harbor. This thriving community offers great shops, schools, kid-friendly amenities and activities too.
