Now that summer is at its peak, harness the feeling of the season by adding some greenery to your apartment. Here are a few creative ways to do it.
- DIY terrariums. A terrarium is a great way to squeeze some Mother Nature into your home without taking up too much space. Follow this simple tutorial to make your own, starting with layers of pebbles, activated charcoal, and potting soil in the container of your choice. Then add some pint-sized plants, like succulents or cacti.
- Windowsill herb gardens. Love to cook with fresh ingredients? It doesn’t get fresher than herbs plucked right from your windowsill. Purchase small planting containers and saucers to catch excess water, then fill them with common, easy-to-grow herbs like basil, rosemary, and parsley.
- Low-maintenance houseplants. Maybe you’re ready to take the leap into houseplant-parenthood. If this is the case, start with houseplants that are notoriously easy to keep alive, such as aloe, jade, and the African violet, to name just a few.
