Unpack a Summer Picnic at Oxon Cove & Oxon Hill Farm
Sweet summertime has arrived and it’s time for all the outdoor adventures before the fall chill is back again. One place to visit that may not have been on your list yet? Oxon Cove & Oxon Hill Farm. It’s a protected area that is a part of the U.S. National Park Service, built to explore historic farm life all the way to farm life now.
On any given day you’re welcome to visit and take a self-guided tour of the grounds and meet all the farm animals that call it home. You’ll come across cows, horses, pigs, goats, chickens, and more. The Visitor’s Barn has a self-guided walking tour pamphlet to help guide the way for you! If you’re not interested in seeing the sights, totally fine—it’s also an amazing spot to do your daily hike, run, walk, or bike ride! There are two trails open to the public that are well-groomed and navigate through the lush grounds of the park. You’ll also find a bike path along the cove which offers stunning views. Pack a picnic lunch for when you’re done and enjoy it on one of the picnic tables by the parking lot! Just don’t feed the animals you see along the way.
